Day 2 - Morning - Preston arrives

(The sun had risen upon Colorado Springs and all was calm and peaceful. By the time Preston reached the Chateau, a great deal of people was already passing by. Some had checked out and some had come to check in. Even the hot springs were being used by people. Preston stopped his carriage and quickly got off. He went behind the carriage to pick up Annabelle’s painting witch was all wrapped up. As he took the painting in his arms, he walked hasty to the front entrance. When he came into the hall, a short nervous man with glasses approached and greeted him)

Malvin: Good morning sir.

Preston: Mr. Gormley, have you seen my guests this morning?

Malvin: Guests sir? Any particular guests you have in mind?

Preston: Annabelle and Albert, who else would I have the concern for?



(Mr. Gormley hesitated, trying to place the faces of whom Preston was seeking)

Malvin: Oh of course....I, I…(He pulled himself together) I believe they are in the dining room, having breakfast.

Preston: Fine I’ll....(He paused)

Malvin: Should I inform them that you’ve arrived?

Preston: No, I wouldn’t want to disturb them at this moment. I will wait for them till they finish.

Malvin: Very well...

Preston: I will be in my offi.....

(Preston instantly stopped speaking. Mr. Gormley turned his head and looked in Preston’s direction. It was Albert and Annabelle who had caught Preston’s eye and were coming right in their direction. As they came closer, Mr. Gormley put on a smile)

Malvin: Oh, Preston was actually looking for y...

Preston: That will be all Mr. Gormley!

Malvin: Yes sir.

(Insulted Mr. Gormley nervously looked briefly at Albert and Annabelle with a fake smile. He then quickly began to walk away from the three fine people, who watched him as he departed into a nearby office. Preston gave a sign of relief and smiled to his friends, while holding on to the covered painting)

Preston: I hope your first stay at my hotel was agreeable? And that the accommodations were as promised.


** Tag Albert / Annabelle **

Annabelle: Sure, is was perfect Preston.

She looked discretly to the young man leaving, unsure if they made something wrong.

Albert: That would be perfect for Annabelle's stay, I couldn't imagine better, especially away in the west.

(Albert paused few second, remembered what Annabelle asked during the breakfast. For tell the true, Albert was a little annoyed about that the clinic doctor wasn't here, due that he thought when he made his choice to bring her that it could be important for Annabelle and more since he knew she was pregnant.)

Albert: Preston, Annabelle was asking me about if it could be possible to go in town in the morning for see the doctor.

[Preston A. Lodge III]

Preston: Of course. Just a moment, I’ll be right back.

(Without hesitation Preston left the hall rather quickly and vanished into one of the many rooms. Annabelle and Albert stood a little confused but patient waiting. Inside the room Preston had entered, Mr. Gormley was speculating around, but this Preston was too occupied to release)

Malvin: Sir?



Preston: For goodness sake Mr. Gormley!!

Malvin: Very sorry sir. It wasn’t my intension to frighten you.

Preston: No of course not, what do you want?

Malvin: You seemed to be in need of help.

Preston: Yes, I…

(Preston gave Mr. Gormley Annabelle’s painting)

Preston: Please put this in a secure place. I don’t want anything to happen to it. You make sure of that, alright?

Malvin: I’ll make sure nothing happens to it sir.

Preston: Good, oh and Mr. Gormley?

Malvin: Yes sir?

Preston: I’ll be expecting you at the bank today. As you know, I have guests to attend and the bank seems quite busy lately.

Malvin: But I thought I was supposed to be working here at the chateau today?

Preston: Yes I know. "sigh" - Listen I’ll make all the papers with the changes and throw in a bonus for the inconvenience. Just this week, I’ll be in need of a lot of help from your side and I know I can be counting on you.

Malvin: Yes sir, you most defiantly can. I’ll finish up here and be at the bank as soon as possible.

Preston: Excellent. Now if you’ll have me excused, I have my guest waiting.

(Not too far away, Annabelle and Albert were beginning to feel impatient of the missing presence of Preston. Suddenly their silent was broken by Preston who came out of a door and shot it straight after him. As he moved closer, his gests tried to smile as nothing had bothered them)



Preston: Sorry to keep you waiting, I had a specific item I had to secure here at the chateau. Well, shall we move on?

(Preston, Albert & Annabelle began to walk out of the chateau and five minutes later they were on their way into town)
